10 ways to save money in times of Crisis

These days of cris we all have to save money. There are many things we can do to decrease our expenditures with just some small adjustments. In this hub I'll post 10 ways to save money.

Money

Old money.
Old money.

1. Bring your own platic bags

Many of us buy a new platic/paper bag every time you go to a local store. The bag probably don't cost alot - maybe 10 or 20 cents a bag - but calculate 10 cents a bag multiplied by about 250 days and you'll save $25 in one year. It's not alot but remember this is just tips numbre one - there 99 more to come.

2. Cut down on cigarettes

If you smoke cigarettes today you can save an enormous amount of money by cutting down or just to stop cold turkey. It probably won't be easy but we all have to cut down on our daily costs these days. Just calculate how much you spend on cigarettes every day and divide it by two - now multiply it by 365 and you'll se how much you'll save in one year.

3. Make a monthly budget

This is very important to do so that you know just how much you spend every month and on what. Begin by listing your income streams and sum them up. Now begin to list up all your spedings on an normal month, like for example rent, food, cloths, car and so forth. Be shore not to leave anything out so that you'll get the full picture of you're expenditures. What's left on the bottom line is what you can use for maybe entertainment or savings. I would strongly recommend that you save your money insted of using it right away. Save it now so that you can use it on a rainy day.

4. Don't use your creditcards

Credit card debt is by far the worst debt you can get you're self in to - so I strongly suggest that you don't use them. If you don't have the money you should'nt buy it - save now and buy when you can afford it in cash.

5. Terminate you're creditcards

Most creditcard companies charge a yearly fee just because you have a card. If you have lots of creditcards it's high time to terminate some of them. Hold on to maybe one of the cards that have the best benifits.

Yearly fees are normally about $10 to $30 per card but can also be alot higher then that. Maybe this isn't lots of money but what we are trying to do here is to find many smaller things to save money on - remember a lot of smaller savings will amount to big savings in the end line.

6. Find a cheaper cell plan

Don't let your cell provider have you for granted. Always try to negotiate new prices and look for deals from other providers. There is alot of money to save here so take you're time and chose the cheapest and/or best cell provider.

7. Sell your garbage

Go up to your attic and snoop around your stuffed away things - things that you even maybe regard as garbage. Something that's garbage for you can have value to somebody else. Take a photo and list the items at ebay and just maybe you'll get some dollars for just those things that you regarded as garbage.

8. Look for the cheapest prices

Be like a hawke and look for the cheapest prices on the internet and in your local stores. There is alot of money to be saved here - so start hawking and find the cheapest place to buy. Remember thou that you should only buy what you need and especially don't buy things just because they are cheap!

Before you buy be shore that the store you buy from is trustworthy and well known, there is always the possibility that some companies won't be around now that we have a crisis on our hands.

9. Don't buy branded cloths

I know this isn't what most people want to hear but we all spend lots of money on brands. We need to cut down on these exenditures and begin to buy cheaper cloths that maybe don't have a great brand glued to it. Many non brandes cloths have the same quallity as the braded ones but they cost a lot less. So in conclusion - don't buy branded cloths and save lots of money!

10. Cut down on car expenditures

Many families today have maybe 2 or 3 cars, sometimes even more than this. Car costs are probably a very big shunk of many families budgets today and we all have to cut down these cost. Get rid of at least one car and start using the buss or subways insted - you'll save a whole lot of money and as a bonus you'll help the enviroment in a very positive way.

That was 10 ways to save money in times of crisis and I hope you can use some of them and start saving some money. I'm always on the lookout for new savings so soon I will post even more tips.

I thought the plastic bags are free but anyway I ask for the paper bags. But that is a good suggestion to carry our own bag. Well the rest of the tips I usually follow. Btw gasbuddy.com gives us the cheapest gas in our zip code to save us some gas money.
